  • Google Announces Search, Plus Your World: What Does It Mean For Your Business?

    on

Announced earlier today, Google brings Your World to their Search. That’s assuming you’ve started to build a version of your world on Google Plus. Now, when you’re logged into your Google Plus account and searching on google.com you have an option to search the public web (as you are currently familiar with it) or to click on the personal icon and see results from people you are connected with – turning google.com from a search engine that understands content to one that also values people and your relationships.

Search, plus Your World will feature the following:

    • More personal results based on information you have either shared with your circles or information shared from your circles specifically with you.
    • Profiles will come up in search results from those close to you or whom Google thinks you might be interested in based on your search.
    • Google Plus pages sharing related information, those you are already connected to or that might be of interest to you. Read more
  • Delivering Pappas Access

    on

Three months ago, Kate Lysaught wrote about her experience getting hooked up to the Pappas IV.  Not to be taken lightly, the Pappas IV has been known to cause frequent caffeine cravings and uncontrollable outbursts of creativity with new Pappasites sometimes needing weeks to develop a proper tolerance.  Nevertheless, we’ve witnessed its incredible benefits when taken with a ready mind, so we’re providing more Pappas access (or Pappaccess) than ever before.

The Pappas Twitter now offers daily links and laughs while this very blog will be updated with more musings and mumblings directly from the Pappas team.  The Pappas Newsletter has evolved into a monthly serving of news and notes and the Pappas Group Facebook page is your destination for photos and commentary.  For press releases, appearances, award announcements and Anthony’s most recent Washington Business Journal column, visit the Pappas News section of our website.

  • On the Evolution of Location Sharing Apps…

    on

Every planner loves social media, and I am no different. I consume it, I contribute to it, I even talk about it when I’m away from the interwebs. I really think it’s the cats meow and I’m glad it’s here to stay.

I’m just going to put this right out there – I can’t stand Foursquare. Now, I’ve never actually opened a Foursquare account, but a little over a year ago I kept seeing all these updates invading my threads that simply stated a location. With a bad taste in my mouth, I immediately began deleting any party guilty of clogging my twitter feed. I get it, I get the gaming aspect, I get the ego boost of virtually showcasing how you have a life, and I get the data mine of information that advertisers are afforded when people actually use the app. But what I don’t get is what utility it serves.

I was really hoping the “Please Rob Me” site would put a stop to the over sharing of pointless information, but alas it did not. Recently the folks at Barbarian Group up in New York created a service calculating distance to mayorship! Wow, really, it’s that serious!?! I often hear the chatter of needing to “check in” and a few Facebook and Twitter feeds spam me with Foursquare input. Which begs me to question myself, Am I all alone in my distaste of Foursquare?
